GRAND FINALS 2011 - Day 24.11.2011
What a great day of racing we have seen this Thursday. With some clouds and a little breeze coming in the afternoon, we saw perfect conditions for kart racing. Although some of the locals might have said that it was rather cold. However, for most of the spectators at the track it was still shorts and flip flop weather.
First of all, let´s say a very warm welcome to Gerd from Dortmund. Gerd has been a passionate follower of the Rotax MAX Challenge for years and has come to three consecutive Grand Finals, just as a spectator with no connection to somebody at the Grand Finals. He just loves Karting and especially the MAX Challenge Grand Finals. For this we would really like to thank him and hope that more will follow this example soon.

Coming back to the races. The order of races is the same as for all Grand Finals. All classes are split into four groups (A, B, C and D) based on their qualifying times. In the first group of heats, A will race B and C will race D. In the second heats A will race C and B will race D. Tomorrow, (Friday) the A group will race D and the B group will square off against the C group. At the end of the heats, points earned by the drivers will be added up and those points determine where the more successful drivers will start the pre-final. Those not making the pre-final will have a “last chance race” to make the finals but, unfortunately, a handful of drivers will have their week of competition come to an end right there.
